Welcome to my website, All Things Beethoven, which I am using to post research articles I have written on the composer and his music. The first series of articles is on the origins of the Eroica Symphony (op. 55). These are an enlargement and an updating of an undergraduate honors thesis which I wrote in 1966. The story told in this series has not received very much attention, either from Beethoven scholars or from the general public, for reasons which I explain in the first (introductory) part.
